Fast Forward

Regular vs. Linear
The central knob offers compression ratios between 1:1 and ∞:1 or expansion between 1:1 and 1:2, while the intensity of the effect can be tweaked with the Threshold control. The Mode button switches from regular gain reduction or expansion, where only levels above the threshold are processed, to linear operation, which affects the full level range above and below the threshold.

It’s actually one of those rare limiters which literally ride the reduction and breathe dynamics along the way.

Natural Edge
The greatest advantages of the VCL-25A are its beautiful, natural and smooth feeling and sound. It easily adds natural depth and shimmer without sounding hyped or muddy. But still – the grit is there in case you need it! The extended threshold and release allow to abuse the unit quite a bit, turning the gentle creature into a drum crushing beast on the parallel bus.

Original V2
On top of its authentic vibe, the VCL-25A offers a set of special features for an even more enjoyable mixing experience. The VCL-373 is a compressor/limiter from the early 1960s designed for the highest demands of German broadcasters, attached with a very high price tag at the time. Its all discrete class-A audio path in combination with highest grade components and transformers made it the perfect last part in the chain for controlling dynamics before actually going on air.

Big and Tight
The effect of the VCL-373 goes from carefully densening the sound up to big and tight compression with great saturation, while keeping a fairly steady output level. It works pure magic on sources which already have a healthy volume and just need that extra creamy push. Vocals, drums and instruments significantly improve in loudness and gain a truly solid feeling.

Extended Versatility
With basically just two controls for the input drive and the release time, the VCL-373 is more than easy to use and provides great sounding results in no time at all. The VCL-515 is a very rare and remarkable tube limiter from the 1960s. Based on a push-pull feedback topology and originally designed for US broadcast, it entered the market with technical improvements to compete with the famous 438 compressor from that era. Compression, Naturally
Its soft-knee style compression curve creates a huge yet relaxed effect which is perfect for embedding voices and instruments into a track in the most natural manner, and it also shines as the main compressor on the mix or drum bus. What’s in a Tube?
The whole point of this preamp is to enrich your recordings with an authentic tube vibe in the most intuitive way. Lower gain settings produce a sound which is well-defined and balanced with a fine accent on the mid-range, while turning up the level-compensated control will significantly increase the perception of warmth, weight and smoothness.

More Than Simple
The VPRE-2C emulates the unit’s two triode-strapped 6J7 pentodes for a rich THD spectrum and the original transformer configuration for its signature low-end mojo, adding selectable pre-/deemphasis filter and a mix control for a greater variety of tones. 25.VPRE-31A
The VPRE-31A is a straightforward Germanium preamp from the 1960s with loads of power under the hood. Based on the rare 4-transistor original, this pre is fueled by the special characteristic curve and even harmonic structure only found in Germanium based designs. A custom UTC input transformer has been fitted for completing this massive hot rod.

Straight Engine Bay
The VPRE-31A is a real tone monster with a nice grind when being pushed – a vigorous motor for anything rock and electro. Its significant low end is perfect for guitars and bass, just like it is killer on kick and snare, too. Should you ever feel your vocals could have benefitted from a stronger proximity effect during recording which just isn’t there, the 31A is the way to go.

Some pieces of classic studio equipment just don’t need an introduction: Here is the VPRE-72! The archetypal preamp was released in the early 1950s and built by several iconic brands such as Maihak, TAB, Siemens and TFK. A legend in itself to the present day, the V72 also became the blueprint for the later V76 and the classic REDD.47 preamps used on numerous Beatles sessions.

The Real Thing
Divine and subtle – this is why you hear the magic of this aerial tube pre on countless kicks, snares, vocals and basses all over the world. The VPRE-72 catches the exact spirit with a faithful emulation of the input and output transformers, the dual EF804s pentode circuit with its peculiar feedback structure, as well as the heavy output choke which produces a subtle touch of air.

27.VPRE-376
The VPRE-376 is a discrete class-A microphone preamp from a golden era of German broadcasting technology, when solid state entered the stage of iconic audio classics. Developed by most experienced engineers and using highest grade components including the wonderful Haufe transformers, the 376 is known as the powerhouse transistor counterpart to the all-time tube legend V76.

Classic Thrust
This preamp adds a straight forwardness to your signals by working out the transients, which is great for brightening and placing things front and center. Adding a touch of light compression, it enhances a great variety of sources with a full bodied physicalness. A final cleanup of the low end with the integrated high pass filter will fit your tracks into the mix easily.

The emulation honors the original circuitry and component choice in all aspects. The VREV-305 originates in an iconic and very rare spring chamber reverb system from the 1970s. This system produces unique reverberation textures which can be shaped with a compact yet powerful tweaking matrix.

Customized Tails
The spring chamber of the VREV-305 produces harmonic series of reflection patterns which result in lush and dense reverb tails, but without the twangy artifacts typical of springs. The plate-like ambience can be adapted to individual signals with a simple, but very musical and interactive EQ section. The plugin also lifts the fixed decay time limitation of the hardware for good.
