1. Atoms

功能特性
配置:
IHNY-2 将输入音频信号分成两路。一路信号保持原声(干声),另一路信号则经过 IHNY-2 的所有处理(湿声)。您可以通过 XY 触控板的垂直轴平衡两路信号,同时在水平轴上设置湿声的压缩量。这样,您只需一个动作即可操作插件最重要的控制项,快速找到最佳平衡点。

IHNY-2 内置自动增益算法,可在您移动节点于 XY 触控板上时提供一致的输出。但如果您发现增益补偿过大或过小,可以使用自动增益滑块进行微调。

在移动节点于 XY 触控板上时,您会在“AGR”(调整增益衰减)下方看到一个数值。该数值综合考虑了当前的增益衰减和干湿比,从而得出压缩强度。我们建议您将 AGR 值设置为 -10 到 -20 之间,以获得良好的初始效果。

微调面板:

1. Atoms
Atoms is a new kind of synth plugin that uses cutting edge physical modeling to generate an endless variety of organic and otherworldly sounds. Use it to build rich and alive textures the world hasn’t heard before.

COMPLEX PHYSICS IN A SIMPLE PACKAGE
Physical modeling simulates the behavior of real life instruments. But Atoms takes you beyond what’s possible in the natural world. Its features are deep enough to explore the outer bounds of sound design, yet so simple that you can easily mangle, shape and create.

Atoms is powered by a simulation of interconnected masses and springs with tweakable properties and dimensions. The model is triggered by a virtual bowing action that excites the system and makes it vibrate to generate sound.

A LIVING ORGANISM
Nothing in the natural world is ever truly static. Physical modeling mimics this by generating sounds with the same organic fluctuations as acoustic instruments.

Atoms takes it even further. Its six main parameters can be automated with a selection of powerful motion options to add extra life. This lets you create soundscapes that are constantly shifting and re-generating, like a natural organism.

If you’re used to working with sample libraries, Atoms will bring a new level of otherworldly realism into your tracks.

PROGRAM NEW PATCHES WITH A CLICK
Atoms comes equipped with a powerful randomization engine. It’s a musically calibrated algorithm that selectively adjusts each parameter based on its relationship to the others, giving you usable patches with every roll of the dice.

You can narrow the algorithm further by limiting the random ranges for any knob or locking parameters from changing.

Finally, the Recycle button is a second randomizer that will create new patches similar to the current patch. Once you have a sound you like, click recycle to explore related options.

PHYSICALLY MODELED EFFECTS
The bottom panel gives you a range of creative effects to further sculpt your sound. You can also choose between four sonic profiles, each offering a different structure of the mass-spring network simulation.

With the exception of Space (reverb), all effects in the bottom panel are created inside the physical model itself. This gives you a range of unique modulation effects that are an inherent part of the physical model and sound more natural than any separate FX chain ever would.

2. BA-1
BA-1 is an analog-modeled synth that brings you closer than ever to pure and authentic 1980s textures in a plugin. Just like the real hardware, it’s dead-simple to program, surprisingly versatile, and dripping with sonic color.

✱ New Effect Plugin – BA-1 FX Strip:
BA-1 isn’t just an analog modeled synthesizer. It also offers a meticulously modeled FX section, based on budget 1980s rack effects. Users have been asking for a standalone edition of BA-1’s effects chain since the early days and here it is! Use the FX Strip to run any audio through BA-1’s virtual circuits and add 80s-flavored drive, filtering, delay, reverb, chorus – and even BA-1’s speaker simulator.

✱ Arpeggiator:
Arpeggiators were an essential ingredient in the synth sounds of the 80s. For BA-1 v1.5, we’ve added a hands-on, hardware-style arpeggiator with three modes (up, down, up/down) and a three octave range. The arp allows for un-syncing from the host tempo for more authentic (i.e. slightly out of time!) effects.

✱ Flexible Chorus parameter:
The original BA-1 offered a simple on/off chorus effect, reminiscent of the Junos and other classic 80s synths. In v1.5, the chorus can now be set anywhere between 0% and 100% for more creative flexibility.

✱ Easter eggs:
The colored dots between BA-1’s segments reveal some new additional synth parameters when clicked. LFO fade adds ramp time to the modulation wave that gradually (or abruptly) fades up to its set frequency for a more unpredictable LFO effect. Chaos introduces nonlinear behavior in the reverb and chorus algorithms for dissonance and unpredictable pitch glides.

✱ Improved preset browser:
BA-1’s preset manager has a vastly improved workflow in v1.5. Search presets by name, filter by pack, or mark patches with color-coded tags to remember them. You can easily import packs, create your own or browse the available BA-1 Expansions to add more sounds to your synth.

THE LEGACY
BA-1 is inspired by a portable 1980s synth with a toylike appearance and a gritty sound. Despite its small size, it left a big mark on music history, while still flying somewhat under the hype radar. The original has been used as a secret weapon for bubbly synth textures by some of Sweden’s most successful pop producers of the past two decades. It was also a staple of 1990s digital dancehall and beloved by the indietronica scene for its raw lo-fi quality. The original hardware had never been properly captured in software form. So for our first ever synth, we started there. But then we took it so much further…

THE SOUND
In keeping with our philosophy ”it’s an evolution, not an emulation”, we modeled the hardware with the greatest possible accuracy, before carefully upgrading it with new and useful features. A second analog-modeled oscillator, FM, polyphony, and more, help to vastly expand the sonic palette of the original. All while keeping its signature sound unspoiled.

Additionally, BA-1 lets you drain the battery, bend the circuits, and use the built-in speaker – for an authentic lo-fi aesthetic that you could normally only get with hardware.

THE EFFECTS
If you know our company, you’ll know that effects are our specialty. So we’ve treated BA-1 with a juicy FX section that captures the sound of a decade in six distinctive effects. The FX chain is inspired by budget 80s hardware and brings you the lo-fi charm of home studio rack units. The overdrive is modeled after a guitar pedal, while the delay, reverb and chorus effects are based on grainy digital effects from the era.

With BA-1 v1.5, the FX chain is now included as a separate effect plugin as well so you can add it to any track you desire.

THE SIMPLICITY
BA-1 is simple, but surprisingly tweakable. We’ve put great effort into tuning all parameters to be in the perfect sweet spot. This results in a rewarding programming workflow where tweaking BA-1 is a lot of fun and you’ll create new patches on repeat.

And if a simple interface is not fast enough, you can always use the smart ‘Re-Gen’ feature. Hit Re-Gen and BA-1 will automatically create new and musically tuned patches with every click.

Instead, you get 14 gratifying ‘shaping knobs’ for instantly sculpting your wet signal. Want a tape delay vibe for your lead synth? A modern slap on your vocals? A crunchy lofi echo on your guitars? Not a problem! The on-board parameters can cover an endless variety of styles when mixed and matched.

CHASING THE HOLY GRAIL
A perfect algorithmic reverb is often considered the holy grail of digital audio effects. Throughout the 20th century, algorithmic reverbs evolved thanks to companies like EMT and Lexicon. But limited computing power at the time forced manufacturers to work within narrow constraints. Fast forward, and we now have the resources to do things that couldn’t be done during the golden age of studio reverbs. Both in terms of sound quality and features.

Crystalline stands on the shoulders of 60 years of chasing the holy grail. We’ve asked ourselves what the pioneers of the legendary digital reverbs would have done if they had the computational resources we have today. And then we’ve made exactly that plugin. With all the bells and whistles a modern producer would need.

FEATURES
✱ BPM-Synced Start And End Times:
Crystalline lets you sync the reverb attack and decay time to your DAW’s tempo. This will generally result in cleaner mixes where the envelope of the reflections is naturally in sync with the music. Prefer the classic way? Just hit the “Sync/MS” switch and Crystalline lets you set pre-delay and decay times in milliseconds instead.

✱ Reflections Section:
”Size” lets you set the room size from tiny to large. This control is detached from the “Length” control, meaning you can get any size/length combination you want, including esoteric settings like huge spaces with very short tails or tiny spaces with very long tails. “Sparkle” emphasizes high frequencies inside the reverb algorithm. This generates reflections that are naturally brighter, which will help you achieve that extra shine on vocals or snares.”Width” lets you set the stereo image of the reverb from mono to wide – and even further to extra wide.

✱ Depth Section:
“Resolution” sets the complexity of the algorithm from ‘basic’ to ‘pristine’. More complex settings will give you an ultra-clean reverb response, free of metallic artifacts – while the ‘Basic’ setting will give you an efficient CPU performance at a normal fidelity. ”Modulation” creates pitch variations inside the reverb algorithm. This results in a richer sound that works especially well to fatten up synths, guitars and vocals. “Shimmer” makes the high frequencies of the reverb tail decay slower than the rest of the spectrum, giving the reflections an ‘angelic halo’ effect. You can set the frequency cutoff point as well as the multiplier effect, which controls how much longer it takes for the higher frequencies to decay. Please note that if Shimmer is active, the high frequencies will decay later than your specified reverb “End Time” (either at 2x, 4x or 6x the length).

✱ Clean-Up Section:
“Damping” is a dual filter control that lets you remove high and low frequency content from the reverb reflections. This control offers a fast way to get rid of clutter and muddiness in your mixes. “Sides” is a high-pass filter that removes stereo information from the low end of the reverb, while keeping the mono-information intact. This is especially helpful for creating wide vocal or lead instrument reflections without muddying-up your low end. “Gate” lets you instantly recreate the classic 1980s gated reverb sound. The gate offers ‘threshold’ and ‘release’ controls and makes it fast and intuitive to make your snares go “Phil Collins”.

✱ Shape Section:
“Tone” is a tilt EQ that lets you quickly shift the frequency balance of the reverb to brighter or darker. “Smoothing” gradually applies an EQ-curve custom-designed to address the frequency areas that tend to get resonant and sharp. It mellows out harshness and gives Crystalline a more subtle feel. This allows you to add a little more reverb without drenching your mix. “Warp” helps you shape the reverb’s dynamic profile by warping the transient response. This feature is mostly useful on percussive material where it lets you shift the emphasis toward the attack or sustain part of a signal.

✱ Output Section:
“Ducker” lowers the reverb signal when the dry/incoming track is playing. This gives you a cleaner mix, where you can turn up the reverb more without compromising the dry track. “Ducker Gentle” mode offers a slow and natural ducker setting, while the standard ducker mode has a more ‘pumpy’ feel. ”Reverse” reverses the reverb playback, giving you some radical sound design possibilities. “Freeze” is another creative effect that takes a granular snapshot of the reverb when clicked and holds this snapshot continuously until the button is un-clicked again. It can be a powerful effect for creating interesting transitions in a mix. “Dry/Wet” sets the global mix balance between the dry/incoming signal and the reverb signal. Clicking the “Wet Lock” button lets you browse presets while keeping your preferred wet/dry balance – for easier comparison.

MIX HARDER
Contemporary mixes need punch. And to achieve maximum impact, without killing a track’s dynamics, engineers turn to parallel compression (a technique that blends a dry track with a heavily compressed duplicate). IHNY-2 hosts a plug-and-play parallel configuration so you don’t have to set up any extra routing in your DAW.

The plugin is purpose-designed for slamming your tracks in parallel and will hit harder than your typical go-to compressors. IHNY-2 is not subtle, but a dedicated tool for adding energy and “slap” to drums, mix buses or even the master bus (if you dare!)

IHNY-2 is an evolution of our very first plugin, I Heart NY. The original was a favorite with many users and was picked for the SOS Awards by Sound On Sound Magazine. V2 ships with new features, surgical control – and improvements in sound.

FEATURES
CONFIGURATION:
IHNY-2 splits the incoming audio into two duplicates. One remains untouched by the plugin (Dry track), the other is subjected to all the goodness IHNY-2 has to offer (Wet track). You balance the two signals on the vertical axis of the XY pad, while setting the compression amount of the Wet track on the horizontal axis. This allows you to operate the most important controls of the plugin in just one motion and find the sweet spot fast.

IHNY-2 has an autogain algorithm working under the hood to give you a consistent output as you move the node around the XY pad. But if you find that the make-up gain is too loud or too quiet you can use the Autogain slider to nudge its behavior.

While moving the node around the XY pad, you’ll see a value displayed under the “AGR” abbreviation (Adjusted Gain Reduction). This number takes into account the current Gain Reduction and Dry/Wet balance to give you a value for the compression intensity. For a good starting point, we recommend you aim for AGR levels between -10 and -20.

TWEAK PANEL:
IHNY-2 is meant to be as fast and intuitive as its predecessor. But if you need to go deeper, the Tweak Panel gives you full control over the compressor. Here, you’ll find a number of new features that weren’t included in V1.

Attack + Release: Sets how fast the compressor engages and disengages.

Ratio: Sets the compression intensity from mild to aggressive.

Punch: Heavy compression tends to suck the transients out of a signal. The Punch control works to emphasize attack transients in the compressed track, helping it cut through even at very high compression levels.

Harmonics: Imagine a saturator that behaves like a compressor – that’s Harmonics. This feature introduces harmonic saturation controlled by the gain-reduction, meaning more compressed parts get saturated harder.

Shape: Adds our custom ‘smiley EQ curve’ to bring out the lows and highs and make the compressed signal more present. (The smiley EQ curve is what sets “New York Compression” apart from regular parallel compression. IHNY-2 can do both).

Tilt: Makes the compressor work harder on either the low or high end of your signal – which can be useful for controlling bass heavy material and letting the high end breathe (or vice versa).

Lo + Hi Preserve: Prevents the low and high frequencies from being compressed above/below the cutoff points. This is a great way to preserve the kick while squashing the rest of your drum bus.

OTHER FEATURES:
– Oversampling: Run the plugin in 1x, 2x or 4x oversampling modes. (We recommend 1x for better CPU performance).
– Solo: Monitor the wet signal in solo. Useful for finetuning – or for using IHNY-2 as a regular insert compressor.
– Tooltips: Turn on to get explanations of each parameter as you use the plugin.
– Save As Default: Save your own default preset, which will load whenever you open a new instance of IHNY-2.
– Reset To Default: Reset the plugin to your default preset.

6. Parallel Aggressor
Add Triple Impact To Your Tracks

✱ It splits your audio into three individual tracks: Dry original, Saturated duplicate, Compressed duplicate
✱ Balance and mix the three signals to add impact and punch while retaining the dynamics of your original track

Parallel processing plays a fundamental part in getting a big mix sound. By duplicating the same audio into multiple copies and processing each duplicate with different levels of intensity, you can add more presence to a track – while still preserving its natural dynamics. The technique is a staple of modern music production.

Parallel Aggressor is based on this concept. But instead of routing any audio to external busses, the plugin hosts the parallel tracks internally – and has them calibrated for maximum impact from the get-go.

“Spank” offers a heavily compressed duplicate of your original track. “Heat” offers a heavily saturated duplicate. “Dry” is your clean audio. Work the two duplicates hard! Then combine all three signals to squeeze every last drop of sonic juice out of your track!

Set the saturation intensity by dialing the main “Heat” wheel – then use the style injection buttons to control the behavior of the engine. Finally, use the volume slider to set the amount of “Heat” / parallel saturation you want blended in with your signal.

Style injection buttons: Extra Hot, Tone, HP Filter, LP Filter.

✱ Auto Gain:
Engage “Auto Gain” to ensure that the combined level of the plugin’s three signals roughly matches the input/dry level. This allows you to experiment with different internal mix balances while keeping a consistent plugin output.

✱ Mixing with the meters:
The plugin interface’s left and right side meters help you set the appropriate amount of “Spank” and “Heat” for any audio signal. As a general rule of thumb, we recommend you dial the Spank/Heat wheels to taste until their respective meters peak somewhere before the orange line.

Smooth Operator combines the benefits of Resonance Suppression, Spectral Compression and Equalization into one, smart workflow. It offers a simplistic alternative to a traditional channel strip and lets you combat cluttered mixes more easily. Use the plugin to creatively sculpt your tonal balance while the algorithm automatically eliminates harsh resonances and muddy frequency areas.

Smooth Operator will do a lot of the dirty work usually assigned to compressors and EQs – while leaving the creative decisions to you.

The plugin analyzes incoming audio at the DAW’s sample rate and adapts its settings tens of thousands of times per second to attenuate frequencies that have excessive energy build-up. You just set a desired frequency response curve and Smooth Operator will optimize the signal to match it, eliminating odd spikes and resonances along the way. The result is smoother, more musically balanced tracks.

Pull the middle circle node downwards to increase the over-all effect amount. When the curve is horizontal, Smooth Operator will apply the same effect-amount across the entire frequency spectrum.

Move the 4 nodes on the frequency curve to sculpt your desired tonal response. Preserve frequency areas by moving the nodes up, or go harder on frequency areas by dragging the nodes down. Use your mousewheel or trackpad-scroll to adjust the Q-factor.

The ”Focus” slider controls how surgical Smooth Operator is in its behavior. At 100%, each frequency spike is processed independently, while lower focus values will give you a broader response, where surrounding frequencies are attenuated around the resonant spikes. This can help the effect sound more natural and musical.

✱ Monitor problematic areas in solo:
Engage the “Solo” button to audition different areas of the frequency spectrum separately and identify problematic areas in your track. Then decide how hard Smooth Operator should tackle them.

✱ Use Smooth Operator as an intelligent ducker:
If you engage “Side Chain” mode, you can duck your signal with the frequency content of another track in your mix. (Example: Ducking your bass with your kick as the side chain input). This feature is like a normal sidechain ducker – except it doesn’t just duck the volume of a track, instead it ducks exactly the frequency areas occupied by the sidechain track – in realtime. This helps you achieve mixes with less frequency clash between different elements.
